For the woman who has difficulty getting pregnant, or for the couple who wants to plan their pregnancies carefully, the question of fertility is always on the mind. Fertility is a continual cycle, with the body rising to a peak at certain times of the month, then dropping back down to a low point, where the chances of getting pregnant are much lower, and then cycling back up again. Monitors help you track this cycle so you know when you have the best chance of getting pregnant. There are a wide variety of monitors designed to help you track changes in ovulation and predict your most fertile time. By knowing when you have the best chance of getting pregnant, you are that much better able to increase your chances of successfully getting pregnant. And the wide variety of monitors available means you will be able to find one that best suits your needs, preferences, and budget.

Many popular fertility monitors determine fertility by tracking changes in the saliva, which makes for easy, uncomplicated testing. These tests are relatively simple to perform, and have reasonably high accuracy rates--some monitors claim accuracy rates of over 95%. Different monitors track different hormones in the saliva to give the results; some of the most accurate monitors will actually track more than one hormone, giving you a better idea of when you reach peak fertility cycles.

Other monitors track changes in your perspiration to give you an idea of when you are most fertile and when you aren't. These monitors often give you early warnings when your peak period is coming up, and they are effortless to use. However, they are also expensive, costing anywhere from two to five times more than saliva monitors. However, it may be a worthwhile investment for some women, especially if they plan on using fertility monitors several times to help them conceive, or if they are put off by the mess and hassle of the saliva monitors.

Regardless of which monitor you choose, fertility monitors help you improve your chances of getting pregnant, and may help you plan your family just that much better.
